Thank you for your interest in the Johannes School of Music scholarship program. We are thrilled to learn that you are considering applying for a scholarship with us. Here is some detailed information that will guide you through the application process.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Completion of at least ONE YEAR of previous study with JSM.
  • Submission of a YouTube link to your audition video.
  • Successful interview and live audition demonstrating technical work, for example scales, arpeggios, sight-reading and one chosen piece of music (different from the audition video).

Evaluation Criteria

The scholarship committee will evaluate applications based on the following attributes:

  • High technical ability in your chosen instrument.
  • Proficiency in reading music, understanding musical concepts and terminology at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Display of confidence and remarkable talent while performing on-stage or in front of a live audience.
  • Demonstrate ability to record your own performances.
  • Any additional proof of performances outside of the JSM curriculum.
  • Ability to progress at a level where you can pursue a career in music.

Application Process

  • The Evaluation Committee has the responsibility of carefully considering all candidates who apply for scholarship and the whole process can take up to 4 weeks from the date of submission.
